Rich's

Hillcrest hot spot

Touted as the largest and oldest of San Diego's nightclubs, it's no wonder that Rich's is San Diego's most popular. Find a cute crowd dancing to the house and pop remixes all night.

Best on Friday Night

Great place to be. Place picks up around 10ish or later and gets really packed with shirtless sweaty toned hotties. Go to the Flick's video bar for a few drinks before then.

Great place to dance the night away!

Before I write a review on a place I like to visit there many times over a period of time just to make sure my review is honest, complete and just. Ill go there to party. (get drunk duh) But also go out dance if there's a dance floor and just sip on a redbull and water. I try to meet all the staff or at least observe how they interact with each other and the patrons of the joint. So here we go. Riches- Visually the bar has potential. I would consider it borderline could be hot/but almost a dive. Poor color choices and "do it yourself" handy work really takes away from what I would consider the best location in Hillcrest. But again once the place fills up there's enough eye candy to distract you from the surroundings, so go late! There's a huge dance floor in the back surrounded from what I would call a "raised viewing deck for those wall flowers that just want to lean back and survey the crowd workin it, or drool at the go go boys behinds! (which are at eye level) Opposite the dance floor and raised even higher than the viewing deck, there are a row of half moon booths. Darkly lit their a perfect place to have a low key moment with friends or a semi private place for you and your new found love from the dance floor. There are 2 bars in the place. One large L shaped Bar in the back and another large one in the front spanning the width of the bar, and framed by the front windows from the street. Nothing really special about the bar tenders, don't get me wrong they were pleasant. But definitely what I would consider your "airport bartender types" you know... "what can I get for you? Next!" Their pretty busy but, a genuine smile would be nice. The drinks are a little on the expensive side if your wanting top shelf mixed drinks. (about 10 bucks depending) But the beer and wells are moderately priced. The second dance floor in the front, which can be seen from the street. Its about a quarter the size of the main room. This makes for a intimate dancing space. Its great on the week nights when there's not as many people out and you want the feel of a packed club on Friday nights! The patio is located now in the front on the street surrounded by a coffee shop type railing. There are two heaters which I have never seen on. So bring a sweater if your a smoker during the winter months! The Greeters and coat checkers are the friendliest staff in the place so if your going to tip anyone for service tip these guys! Finally I would have to say the biggest draw back from coming to this bar is the security. Dressed to impress in their all black uniforms, 007 sport coats, and mini slash lights (which they love to use) but don't let that fool you. They give the bar an almost "police state feel" They all seem to have what I would consider a napoleon complex. Like they wanted to be cops but didn't make the cut. They're all very cold, but what can you expect they're security. But seriously they are quite "OVER THE TOP" and abusive when they feel they need to throw someone out. From what I gathered its almost like a competition between security to see who can be the most brutal. You know its one thing if you get in a fight, or are completely belligerent, you should be taken/draged and shoved like a wrestler out the door. But on more than one occasion I observed stumbling or a fall on the dance floor where a simple "you need to leave" and follow them out would do. But not here. So if your new to wearing heals lol, probably not a great place to practice. So over all the bar is a great place to dance, The boys are hot, the music is great, the drinks are good, the staff is friendly and security is right out of the patriot act. Worth checking out!

Place to be for dancing and partying!

A place to go for total partying. Lots of people, good yet loud music on 2 dance floors. Plenty of places to order drinks but the bartenders are inconsistent in service. Best find one good bartender for the night and stick with him. Cover can be steep. Outdoor smoking area included. Nice place to end up after a few drinks.
