SRO Lounge

(37 Ratings)
Glam and chill

Popular gathering spot for parties/groups, SRO has an old school vibe, with dark red walls, mirrors, chandeliers, and drag queens.

Fun Times, Strong Drinks, ask for bartender RAY!

I lived in San Diego 4 months and found myself consistently drawn to SRO as a good place to start my night--or end it. You'll see trannys doing cartwheels, toothless men talking to themselves, a twink or two, pool players. You might feel almost afraid to go in as there are some panhandlers floating around the neighborhood, but it is safe, friendly--look for bartender Ray's infectious smile & Long Island--but most of all, entertaining. A FABulous dive!

Mainly known as a transgender bar they open early in the AM and feels like you walked into a bar from the 1950's era of class. Very much a Mad Men feel minus the cigars, drinks can be pricey, no tap beer!

terrible managment

I would never recomend anyone going to this bar due to the manegment kicking me out and using prophane language twords me for shaking the pool table I assume that this is a pool bar not to include it is a tiny bar single person restroom and gets over packed there is also no lock on the restrooms I don't like getting sexually asulted when I hafto pee.

David Lynch-esque

Slightly off-kilter, eccentric, sometimes downright bizarre, but mostly just a quirky dive bar, SRO Lounge is truly unique. Drag queens spice up the festivities many nights, but the clientele is never dull when the place is full. If the cantina in Star Wars were mixed with a John Waters setting and decorated like a downtown Vegas slot palace, the result might look like SRO on Friday and Saturday nights. At other times, it's not quite as avant-garde, but still more entertainingly odd (and occasionally creepy) than any gay bar in San Diego. Or maybe the entire Southwest.
