Bourbon Street (Closed Permanently)

(96 Ratings)
The place to see and be seen
On a busy weekend night you'll find Bourbon Street packed with a mostly younger crowd. The "stand and model" crowd feels a little more like L.A., but much friendlier. Video monitors throughout show eye candy. The outdoor patio is reminiscent of its namesake and the upstairs pool room is a great way to escape for a quiet conversation.

A FUN PLACE TO HANG OUT

A fun bar with the outside patio and great music. The people are friendly and it's always a great time.

Great looking crowd, good music, standoffish

Bourbon Street was the perfect place for boy-watching with a good mix of people and lots of pretty boys. The crowd seemed a little more LA and a bit less friendly than some of the other SD spots, but overall I enjoyed it. It's in University Heights near a few other restaurants but otherwise away from the Hillcrest or North Park bars, so it's harder to barhop here.

Not so great

I recently visited Bourbon Street and I'll have to say that I was not overly impressed. The bartenders in the back seemed to be overly engaged with their personal friends and less with those of us visiting for the first time. It too a prohibitively long time to get a dring and the bartender wasn't even friendly. The crowd was fun so I would go back for the crowd but the owner(s) should make the staff aware of what customer service is about.

Service used to be better

Used to be one of the first places I would go to in San Diego. I was there a few months back, a big black lesbian was the bartender, she was too busy flirting and hoping to get lucky with the other lesbians there to serve any of the guys. Like a few other guys, I left after 20 minutes (without being served - there were only like 20 customers).
