The lecturers will be an informative approach to the medium of painting, its histories and its current condition, the lectures will be presented by Irish artist Stephen Morris and delivered in the form of images, text and videos to offer an insight into some of the various painting practices and approaches to the medium to date. Audience members will be introduced to important thinkers, ideas and artists that have contributed to, and responded to culture both past and present. Audience participation will be encouraged, contributing opinions on the various topics discussed during the lectures in a supportive educational environment. The lectures will have a running average time of 1:30 minutes.
Stephen will also be available at The Studio Door for tutoring lessons with the aim of helping interested artists develop, understand and refine what their unique approach to painting and art making is, with the goal of pushing the artist and their work to its greatest potential, and situating it with defining relevance in contemporary art making and culture. All levels are welcome, no previous experience is necessary, only a commitment and an interest in art making by the artist/student is all that is required.
