MORE INFO:
San Diego-based events group The Travelers Club bring back their music & art warehouse series ('Warehouse Takeover') with another large-scale three-story pop-up installation, featuring over a dozen local artists/musicians, themed activities and a special headlining set by 2017's BlkSwn exec. producer and internationally renowned Soulection musician, Monte Booker + special guests.
The event includes two separate rooms of music from San Diego acts, including JR Jarris, Eddie Zuko, 1207's Malik Burgers, Dauche and more, along with an entire venue floor dedicated to artwork by over a dozen visual artists, local and beyond.
As a whole, the Warehouse Takeover is a series carefully designed to pair vibrant local talent with large-scale acts together for one event, creating a space where fans can enjoy their favorite national performers and be exposed to fresh, nearby creatives. Focusing primarily on alternative electronic music (previous guests include Sango, Esta, Kittens, Xavier Omar, WEDIDIT, Masego) and youth art culture, the event strives to create a sense of cultural identity and pride within a city too often swallowed by the large, creative vacuum of Los Angeles, CA.
HEADLINER BIO:
Monte Booker - Hailing from Southside Chicago, at only 21 years old, Monte Booker has already placed himself as one of the most innovative producers in the bass scene, taking influence and adding onto the eclectic and left-field sounds of producers like Timbaland and Mr. Carmack before him. As the primary producer for St. Louis rapper Smino, Booker helped shape the 2017 critically acclaimed Blk Swn LP, as well as countless hits by artists Noname, Ravyn Lenae, Saba, Mick Jenkins and Phoelix. Representing the Soulection label, Smino and many of his producer/DJ peers (Kaytranada, Esta, Mr. Carmack, etc.) are rapidly re-shifting the way the world perceives bass music, combining hip hop instrumentals, electronic experimentation and soul foundations to create a genre completely innovative and refreshing.
