Cafe on Park (Closed Permanently)

(9 Ratings)
Popular breakfast and lunch joint
This place has a wonderful breakfast menu, and many a gay boy has been known to carbo load there after a long night out at the clubs. It's small and popular, so be prepared to stand in line.

One of the best little breakfast spots in Hillcrest

Great breakfast spot. Very home town friendly feel with incredible food.

Creative and cramped

Too small for its growing crowds, especially on weekend brunch/hangover-recovery hours, but worth a visit nonetheless. Clever touches from jar-glasses and asymmetrical pancakes mix with an artsy design replete with wall offerings from locals. Mixed gay/straight, and not much elbow room, but no one cares when they finally get their table at noon on Sunday. The food is worth waiting for compared to the closest (less crowded for a reason) options.

Great for Dinner Too!

We ate here for dinner on a Wednesday night, and were seated just in time to order the 3-course, prix-fixe dinner -- quite a bargain, especially since it came with two additional taste-size courses. My salmon was delicious, and done just a little rare (I suppose they could have asked how done I like it, since not everyone likes it that way -- but it was perfect for me). I could have done without the "entertainment" a reasonably competent but overly amplified duo who sang everything from "Dancing Queen" to the Rocky Horror Picture Show in the loungiest style possible. Not my taste. The people in the bar area seemed to be enjoying them, but I was wishing I didn't have to hear them in the dining room.
