A bunch of you have said you want to go snorkeling and see the sea lions playing underwater because (1) it's suprisingly easy, (2) it's like an IMAX documentary right off our shoreline. Bears are very boyant so this plays to our strengths.
- Mask, snorkel and fins are easy to rent, lots of places in La Jolla do it (like $20 for the day), or buy your own. Look on Yelp, we rented from here last time http://lajollaswimandsport.com/, just call ahead wherever you rent since it's a busy tourist week...

- I learned that snorkels have come a long way since I was a kid, no more inhaling water (they have fancy valves). yay!
- For the non-swimmers, bring a lawnchair or beach blanket, something to munch on since the Cove and the CIty park are a great place for people & sea lion watching.
- The water should be around 70F, cool but not so cold you'd need a wetsuit (though that would make it even better if you have one).
- Parking is tight right at The Cove with lots of toursits, especially with this being a holiday weekend, so car pool, Uber/Lyft, etc.
