This 4/20 Mixer will be replacing April's meeting and will be at Spitz in Hillcrest! As you may know, the San Diego Democrats for Equality endorsed Proposition 64, the Adult Use of Marijuana Act, for the 2016 General Election. We found it apt to celebrate!
Our officers will give very brief announcements to inform the club of any upcoming events or issues and we will have a special guest speaker, Councilmember Chris Ward, to update the club on City issues as it relates to cannabis! We will also introduce our co-hosts, the Association of Cannabis Professionals. They are a cannabis business trade association based in San Diego. The Association also acts as an advocacy force and spearheaded two unprecedented, successful ordinances to regulate medical marijuana businesses in both Lemon Grove (Measure V) and La Mesa (Measure U) during the 2016 General Election.
Proposition 64 and the Medical Cannabis Regulation and Safety Act defer to municipalities to regulate cannabis business activity. Did you know, not a single San Diego District, as a whole, voted against Prop 64? This is a great opportunity for any cannabis advocates to hear what the community needs from you! The City of San Diego has already started discussions of recreational cannabis sales at past Council meetings. Councilmember Ward will give a quick rundown of San Diego marijuana politics at 8pm
