A FREE Community Day and Concert at Embarcadero Marina Park South
The San Diego Symphony presents Sounds of the City, a free, outdoor celebration of San Diego’s local music scene that will feature some of the region’s top bands: Todo Mundo and the King Taylor Project along with singer Raelee Nikole. Sounds of the City takes place at picturesque Embarcadero Marina Park South—home of San Diego Symphony’s Bayside Summer Nights—where the day will culminate in a free concert by the San Diego Symphony Orchestra performing the music of Academy Award-winning composer John Williams.
Taking advantage of the beautiful park setting for all to enjoy, Sounds of the City (beginning at 4pm) will offer games and activities including Giant Jenga, Corn Hole, bocce ball, checkers and Twister. There will also be a family area featuring “Make Your Own Instrument,” an obstacle course and “My First Violin Class” where students of all ages can try their hand at playing the violin led by a professional instructor. Attendees may bring their own picnic basket or purchase food on the premises, including popular craft beer offerings.
Starting at 7:30pm, the San Diego Symphony Orchestra will perform an hour-long free concert featuring the music of Academy Award-winning composer, John Williams that will include music from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, Saving Private Ryan, The Empire Strikes Back and Star Wars: The Force Awakens among many others.
