For the first time ever we are collaborating this event with our next door awesome neighbors, Gossip Grill! We will both have different specials, but Uptown will be featuring GoGo Dancers, Photo booth, a special singing performance, holiday food treats table, and $3 u-call its.
Most importanty Gossip Grill and Uptown Tavern are uniting for a great cause to for charity to help Aseltine school located just around the block from us here in Hillcrest. We will be collecting non-parashable food items for these under privileged families that the school is collecting.
Aseltine School helps meet the educational needs of emotionally disturbed and learning disabled students throughout San Diego County. The hallmarks of the Aseltine approach are a philosophy of uncommon commitment to special education students and their families, and the belief that all children deserve access to the opportunities of life. Aseltine staff partner with these “at-risk” youth in unique, empowering ways and imaginatively support, challenge, and prepare them to:
-Gain better understanding and insight into the barriers that have limited their access to “mainstream” school and community;
-Develop the skills, knowledge, and resources necessary to overcome these barriers;
-Develop the self-esteem that transforms fatalism and self-doubt into purposeful action; and
-Make an independent and productive transition back into school, employment, and community.
