Soprano Lynn Mendoza-Khan takes the listener on a musical journey, through vocal gems from some of the greatest song composers of the last century.

Soprano Lynn Mendoza-Khan takes the listener on a musical journey, through vocal gems from some of the greatest song composers of the last century.
“Songs of Love and Adventure” will feature Poulenc’s complete “Tel Jour, Telle Nuit,” one of the great song cycles of the vocal repertory, based on the beautiful and enigmatic poetry of Paul Eluard.
Also on the program will be Heitor Villa-Lobos’ “Bachianas Brasilieras, No. 5,” two selections from Stefano Donaudy’s “Aria di Stile Antico,”
and the signature aria from Alfredo Catalani’s opera La Wally, a piece that was a prominent part of the plot of the 1981 movie “Diva,” the French thriller directed by Jean-Jaques Beinix, as well as songs by Ned Rorem and Ricky Ian Gordon.
This concert will take place on Saturday, March 28, 2015, at 4:00 p.m., in the 1st Unitarian Universalist Church, located at 4190 Front St., in Hillcrest (across from the UCSD Medical Center).
A $15 donation ($5 for children and students) will be accepted at the door, with proceeds going to benefit the Unitarian Church of Brassó, Romania.
