We each carry a legacy of stories - from our own set of experiences to the families and communities who have raised us. Is there someone in your life whose story you keep meaning to record or write about; a father, grandmother, uncle, teacher, or mentor? Does more and more time pass while you say to yourself, "I have to record my family's stories - someday I'll sit down and tape them!"
In this unique and intergenerational workshop focused on storytelling, pairs of participants write and record the stories of the important and influential figures in their lives. Attendees will participate in fun, memory-provoking group and paired storytelling exercises, along with writing and recording techniques with their partner.
Through its two sessions, this course will provide participants with the time and space to finally begin asking questions and recording memories. At the end of the class, students will have developed clear ideas on how to continue the process of recording and writing about stories that are hoped to remain in the family.
The course will take place from 10:30 to 1:30 on Saturday, February 21, and Sunday, February 22, 2015 at the 10th Avenue Arts Center. To register for the course, please call the Mo`olelo office at 619-231-4137 or sign up online at moolelo.com/education. Space is limited – register today!
