The mission of San Diego Remembers is to raise awareness of hate crimes in our community and to remember those who are or were victims of acts of hate and/or violence because of their sexual orientation or gender identity.
Our Vision:
• sponsor an annual vigil to raise awareness of hate crimes;
• plan and maintain a memorial park to remember community victims of hate crimes;
• conduct activities to support victims of hate crimes and those organizations that are dedicated to neighborhood patrol and community education.
The Pride Constellation: United States Marriage Equality Flag was created as a unified symbol of Pride, Democracy, Freedom and Tolerance. It uses pink stars to signify each state with marriage equality rights.
It is similar to a flag created by Alice Paul during the Women's Suffrage Movement, in which women were granted the right to vote on a state by state basis.
As the 19th amendment made its way through the approval process, the ladies sewed a star on their flag each time another state ratified it, similarly a white star is sewn over with pink as each state has granted its LGBT citizens the right to marry.
If you have any questions or would like to help with the event please contact Eddie Rey at Urban MO's 619-796-5664!
