Universal Hillcrest

Most weekends this place is jumpin by 11pm and paked by 1am great dj's the drinks are a bit steep and parking can be hard to find u can get on the guest list and if you show up by 11 theres no cover (usually $5-10) its hit or miss thought ive showed up there on a sat and its been dead however 7 out of 10 times its awesome overall a great place to drink and dance the night away

I loved this place when it first opened, but it has gone downhill since then. When I went there a few weeks ago on a Friday night, it was so slow the DJ dance floor area was closed off!

I'm really happy there is finally an alternative to Rich's-type-bars in Hillcrest. I don't mean to say I'm not a fan of Rich's/Flicks/etc. (they have their time and place), but if you're in the mood for a bit more attention to aesthetics and design, Universal won't disappoint. The restaurant is pretty good too!

Wasnt sure how this place would be but I loved it. Lots of people talk crap about it but that is how the gay boys are to anything new. So nice to have a modern bar (has dance floor but not quite a nightclub). Very good looking crowd and atmosphere. Getting better the more that the gays are talking it over completely!! ;)
