The Old Globe *

The Bard's local stage
One of the most celebrated theatres in the country, the Old Globe is the premier destination for drama in San Diego; most famously its annual Shakespeare festival. Productions at the Globe regularly attract big name actors, many of whom studied at the Globe at one time or another.

    From Balboa Park to Broadway
With a long history of bringing some of the best works from Balboa Park to Broadway, you can be assured that the Old Globe will have something to bring you to a standing ovation. From Sondheim ("Into the Woods") to Neil Simon ("Rumors") to a host of other plays that have gone on to the Great White Way, the Old Globe, with Tony-winning artistic director Jack O'Brien at the helm, brings diversity to audiences. And what's a summer without the Shakespeare Festival? The Old Globe gets it's name from the Bard's theatre, and the offerings are some of the best Shakespearean productions in the world.
